Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Cocoa, Florida

Pedestrian pronounced dead at the scene
A tragic incident occurred in Brevard County, Florida on Friday morning when a 43-year-old man from Cocoa was struck and killed while standing in the roadway. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the fatal accident took place around 6:05 a.m. on U.S. 1 (Cocoa Boulevard) near MacArthur Circle.
According to FHP, a 59-year-old man from Cocoa was driving a 2017 Kia Sorento northbound on U.S. 1 when he collided with the pedestrian who was standing in the road. The driver claimed that he tried to swerve to avoid hitting the man, but unfortunately, the front right side of his SUV made contact with him.
Tragically, the pedestrian succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash as confirmed by an FHP crash report. Thankfully, no harm came to the driver who remained at the scene following this devastating incident.
The northbound lanes were temporarily blocked due to this collision; however, they have since been cleared for normal traffic flow. Meanwhile, an ongoing investigation is being conducted by authorities into this heartbreaking accident.
