The deaths were ruled accidental.

Three Pennsylvania Lakeview School District students tragically lost their lives on Thursday night after a car crashed into a tree, according to the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). The victims have been identified as James M. Harrison, 18, of Grove City; Harmony Leige, 17, of Mercer; and Aliya Harvey, 17, of Jackson Center.

The crash occurred on Skunk Run Road in Lake Township at approximately 8:50 p.m., prompting PSP to respond after receiving an automatic crash notification from an Apple iPhone that pinged the location. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle engulfed in flames.

Investigators determined that Harrison was driving when he lost control while navigating a curve and veered off the road before colliding with a tree. The impact caused their 2011 Chevy Impala to catch fire. Sadly, all three individuals died as a result of this tragic accident.

Mercer County Coroner John Libonati ruled these deaths as accidental. An investigation is currently underway by Pennsylvania State Police to determine further details surrounding the incident.

Upon learning about this devastating news, the school district released an announcement expressing their deep sorrow over losing such bright and promising students.

To support grieving students who may be struggling with this loss, grief counseling and support services will be provided by the school district. Additionally, although there were no classes held on Friday for students to mourn collectively if desired or needed for emotional support purposes only middle-high school will remain open for those who wish to gather together during this difficult time.

In light of these tragic events, some adjustments have been made within the school schedule. Homecoming festivities have been rescheduled from next week to the following week. Additionally, the band has decided not to participate in a competition scheduled for tomorrow out of respect for those affected by this tragedy.

Furthermore, there will be no classes held on Monday as everyone takes time to process their emotions and come to terms with what has happened.

Our thoughts go out to all those impacted by this heartbreaking incident.
