Two Injured in Fiery Pickup Truck Crash on I-495 in Alexandria

Two people were seriously injured and taken to the hospital.
Virginia State Police (VSP) are investigating a crash that occurred on Interstate 495 early Friday morning, leaving two people seriously injured.
According to VSP spokesperson Corinne Geller, the accident happened at approximately 3:50 a.m. on I-495 at Van Dorn Street in the Alexandria area. The crash involved a pickup truck that was heading west when it ran off the road, hit the Jersey wall, and came to a stop in the eastbound lanes of the interstate. The truck, which was towing a trailer with two other vehicles, caught fire.
Emergency medical services arrived at the scene and transported two individuals to MedStar Washington Hospital Center for treatment of serious injuries. The identities of the victims have not been released.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation. No further details have been provided at this time.
