Driver Injured After Pickup Truck Struck by Metro-North Train in Norwalk

A Metro-North train collided with a pickup truck on Wednesday, resulting in one person being injured and causing delays for both trains and traffic. The incident occurred at the railroad crossing on Commerce Street, where the pickup truck was struck by the train and pushed several hundred feet.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to hospital in serious condition, but there were no other reported injuries. Commerce Street had been closed for several hours following the accident but has since reopened.
Norwalk Fire Department Deputy Chief Adam Markowitz commented on the rare occurrence: "It's not something that happens here every day. However, here in Norwalk, we have the capabilities to lift and stabilize an object as big and as heavy as a train."
MTA Police are currently investigating the crash which caused major delays throughout Wednesday evening's commute. Trains are expected to be back on schedule for Thursday morning's commute.
