Police Chase of Stolen Vehicle Ends in Crash in North Minneapolis, Injuring Pedestrian and Man Inside Bus Shelter

Authorities say a police chase of a stolen vehicle ended in north Minneapolis on Monday, resulting in the injury of eight people. The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office reported that members of its violent offender task force were working on a joint operation when they spotted a silver Kia driving erratically just before noon.
The officers pursued the Kia after discovering it had been linked to several armed robberies earlier that day. The driver of the Kia fled from law enforcement and eventually crashed into a blue SUV near Olson Memorial Highway and Penn Avenue North. Both vehicles then collided with a Metro Transit bus shelter, injuring one man inside it and destroying the structure.
According to reports, all six passengers in the stolen car - five boys and one girl - attempted to flee on foot but were soon apprehended by authorities. All eight injured individuals are expected to survive their injuries; however, six juveniles were taken to an area hospital along with an injured pedestrian while the woman who was driving the blue SUV was treated at the scene.
The sheriff's office is leading an investigation into this incident.
