Police Pursuit in Columbia County Ends in Arrest of 19-Year-Old Umar Khan

Arrested and charged with numerous traffic charges
The Columbia County Sheriff's Office has arrested a 19-year-old after a police pursuit in the Berkley Hills neighborhood near Evans, Georgia. The incident began at around noon when a deputy attempted to stop Umar Khan's 2017 Dodge Charger for speeding complaints.
According to Maj. Steve Morris with the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, "a police pursuit ensued after a 2017 Dodge Charger failed to stop for a deputy in reference to speeding complaints in Berkley Hills." The chase lasted approximately 15 minutes and covered several streets before ending at Khan's house in Berkley Hills.
During the pursuit, Khan struck both another vehicle and a patrol car causing minimal damage. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident.
Khan has been charged with numerous traffic violations as well as evading arrest. He is currently being held at the Columbia County Detention Center awaiting his court appearance.
