Noah Leyman and Jurnee Scott involved in fatal Potter County crash

One dead, one injured
At least one person has died and another was seriously injured in a crash involving a vehicle and a semi-truck on US 287, approximately 1.5 miles southeast of Amarillo, Texas. The incident occurred at around 2:55 am on Sunday morning.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), a Freightliner truck tractor towing a semi-trailer was traveling southeast-bound in the northbound lane when it collided with a Hyundai Sonata that was heading northwest bound on US 287. Both vehicles sustained significant damage as a result of the collision.
Noah Leyman, aged 22 from Newton, New Jersey who was driving the Hyundai Sonata died at the scene while Jurnee Scott, aged 22 from Robins Air Force Base in Georgia who was also travelling in the car suffered life-threatening injuries and had to be taken by LifeStar helicopter to Amarillo Northwest Texas Hospital for treatment.
The driver of the semi-truck Firdavs Kubaev, aged 33 from Mason Ohio along with his passenger Ergash Annakulov aged 38 from South Lebanon Ohio were not injured during this accident.
The DPS report stated that both occupants of Hyundai were wearing seat belts at the time of impact and road conditions were dry and clear. The posted speed limit for this area is set at 75 mph which is under investigation by Texas Highway Patrol Troopers.
This accident happened just hours after first responders attended another major accident nearby where four patients were taken by AMS ambulance service with unknown medical status before witnessing this second high-speed vehicle collision. Traffic flow remained impacted for over two hours following these accidents according to reports released by Amarillo Fire Department (AFD).
