Poughkeepsie Woman Killed in Two-Car Accident on Route 9W in Highland

A tragic two-car accident on Route 9W in Highland, New York claimed the life of a Poughkeepsie woman on Sunday. The incident occurred around 4:40 a.m. near Chapel Hill Road, according to the Town of Lloyd Police Department.
Authorities reported that a 21-year-old man from Poughkeepsie was driving a 2008 Ford Explorer southbound on Route 9W when he veered into the northbound lane and collided with a 2016 Chevy Cruze traveling in that direction. The driver of the Chevy, identified as a 50-year-old Poughkeepsie man, sustained internal injuries and was rushed to Vassar Brothers Medical Center by New Paltz Rescue Squad.
Tragically, the passenger in the Chevy, a 52-year-old woman from Poughkeepsie, did not survive her injuries. She was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital by Mobile Life Ambulance where she succumbed to her wounds.
The identities of those involved have not been released pending notification of their families.
The investigation into this devastating accident is still ongoing as authorities work diligently to determine its cause.
