Reality TV star Jim Tweto dies in Alaska plane crash

Alaska State Troopers have confirmed that Jim Tweto, a well-known bush pilot and cast member of the reality show "Flying Wild Alaska," has died in a plane crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident that occurred near Unalakleet, Alaska.

According to reports, an SOS notification was received from a Garmin InReach device at 11:48 am on Friday. Witnesses reported seeing a Cessna 180 attempting to take off but failing to gain elevation before crashing 35 miles northeast of Shaktoolik. Both the pilot and passenger were killed in the accident.

Tweto, aged 68, was identified as the pilot while his passenger was named as Shane Reynolds, aged 45 and hailing from Orofino, Idaho. Reynolds owned and operated Northwest Fishing Expeditions which focused on guiding trips for salmon, steelhead, sturgeon and bass in Washington's Snake River along with Oregon's Columbia and Grande Rivers.

Tweto had come to Alaska on scholarship to play hockey at the University of Alaska Anchorage but later became known for his aviation-related businesses after appearing on Discovery Channel's "Flying Wild Alaska" between 2011-2012. "
