The Kanawha County Sheriff's Office is urging drivers to prioritize safety and make smart decisions after a fatal car crash on I-64 in West Virginia. The accident, which occurred on Sunday, was caused by road rage and resulted in the death of 31-year-old Amanda Getts from Missouri.
According to Chief Deputy Joe Crawford, "There is nothing worth the results of what we see out of this event. It’s a common occurrence. It’s becoming more common, more prevalent on the highways." He emphasized that road rage-related accidents often lead to preventable fatalities across the country.
The incident on Sunday involved Getts' blue Buick Rendezvous and a pick-up truck during an altercation between Nitro's I-64 East exit and mile marker 51. After being thrown from her vehicle due to the collision with the truck, Getts died as a result of her injuries while her male passenger sustained minor injuries.
Deputies are still searching for dash cam footage or witnesses who can provide information about what happened leading up to the accident so they can determine if charges should be filed against anyone involved.
