RV Crashes into Broken Down Semi on Interstate 80 in Placer County

Authorities in Placer County reported a collision between an RV and a broken down semi on Thursday morning. The incident occurred around 7:30 a.m. along the eastbound side of Interstate 80 near Blue Canyon.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), only one person, the driver, was inside the RV at the time of the crash. The impact trapped the driver inside the vehicle, requiring assistance from emergency responders to free them.
CHP officers believe that an unsafe turning movement by the RV led to it crashing into the stationary semi on the shoulder of I-80. Despite initial concerns about potential injuries, CHP confirmed that only minor injuries were sustained in this accident. Remarkably, no hospitalization was required for either party involved.
The crash caused temporary lane closures and traffic delays as authorities worked to clear up debris from both vehicles. By noon, all lanes were reopened and traffic flow returned to normal.
