Scooter rider struck by box truck in Boston

The man who was riding the scooter was transported to an area hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. There has been no update on his condition.
A man riding a scooter is recovering after being struck by a box truck at a busy intersection in Boston. The incident occurred at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Beacon Street on Thursday, shortly before 12:20 p.m. According to Boston police, the truck was traveling south on Mass. Ave. from Cambridge when it took a right turn onto Beacon Street and hit the scooter rider.
Eyewitnesses reported that the man was lying motionless on the street after the accident. Brooks Payne, who regularly rides a bicycle in the area, said, "I'm very shaken right now. He was just lying there on the street/pavement, motionless. Then, they brought a (back)board along." The injured man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. There has been no update on his condition.
The driver of the truck remained at the scene and was questioned by Boston police. Residents in the area have said that the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Beacon Street is dangerous for bicyclists, but safety has improved in recent years with the addition of new bike lanes along Mass. Ave.
This is not the first time a serious accident has occurred at this intersection. In August 2015, a woman was run over by a 48-foot truck that cut across the bike lane while turning right onto Beacon Street.
