Death
A 77-year-old woman from California has died while snorkeling in Kauai, Hawaii. This marks the second Californian to lose their life at the popular Hawaiian island this month. The incident occurred on Monday when Judith Bailey was pulled from the water at Poipu Beach Park after lifeguards saw her in distress in a lagoon area.
Bailey was conscious and alert when paramedics arrived but later passed away at Wilcox Medical Center in Lihue, according to Kauai Police. Autopsy results are still pending, and it is not immediately known where Bailey lived in California.
Volunteer grief counselors on the island assisted Bailey's family following her death. Captain Kennison Nagahisa with Kauai Police expressed sadness over another visitor's passing and reminded people to be aware of their surroundings and abilities while swimming.
