Semi Hits Nissan Xterra in Cedar Rapids

Traffic on Mount Vernon Road Southeast in Cedar Rapids, Iowa is flowing once again after a semi-truck collided with a Nissan Xterra near the intersection of Mount Vernon Road and Wanatee Creek. The incident occurred just after 3 p.m. on Sunday. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the accident.

According to the Linn County Sheriff's Office, the semi-truck was hauling an empty trailer for dry materials at the time of the incident. However, diesel fuel from its tanks did spill onto the road.

As a safety precaution, authorities closed off Mount Vernon Road while they cleaned up the scene and removed both vehicles involved in the accident. Thankfully, traffic has now resumed as normal with Mount Vernon Road reopened to motorists.
