Semi-trailer accident causes traffic issues on Highway 275 in Stanton

No injuries were reported. Damage to the trailer is estimated to be in the thousands of dollars.
A one-vehicle accident on Highway 275 in northeast Nebraska caused traffic issues for nearly seven hours on Monday afternoon. The crash occurred just before 3:00 p.m., a few miles west of Pilger, and partially blocked the westbound lane. According to Stanton County Sheriff Mike Unger, "the roadway was covered with debris after axles of a semi-trailer broke loose and disintegrated."
The accident caused a mobile home that was being transported to tilt precariously off the broken trailer. As a result, the westbound lane remained closed for several hours as authorities worked to direct traffic around the scene. A special wrecker crew from Fremont was summoned to stabilize the load and repair the axles before safely moving the trailer.
The highway was officially cleared before 10:00 p.m., but according to Unger, "the trailer caused damage to the roadway that will be addressed by the Nebraska Department of Transportation." The damage estimate for repairs is expected to be in thousands of dollars.
