Driver critically injured, other driver uninjured
A semitruck driver was critically injured in a fiery crash on the Florida Turnpike in Osceola County. The accident occurred around 2:10 a.m. on Tuesday, near mile marker 246 in Kissimmee. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 24-year-old Virginia man was driving his semitruck in the inside lane when he drifted into the outside lane and hit another semitruck driven by a 44-year-old Miami man.
The impact caused the Virginia man to lose control of his vehicle and overturn before it became engulfed in flames. Fortunately, he was able to get out of his semi and was airlifted to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.
The other driver involved remained uninjured and stayed at the scene while an investigation is ongoing. Southbound traffic has been diverted off at Osceola Parkway as authorities continue their investigation.
