Woman and juvenile injured in serious Durham crash

Durham police are investigating a serious crash that occurred on Tuesday morning on U.S. Highway 70. According to investigators, the accident happened around 8 a.m. between Lynn Road and Pleasant Drive.
The incident involved four vehicles, including a 2007 Chevrolet HHR driven by a woman who was heading eastbound when she crossed the median divider and collided with a westbound 2014 Chevrolet Silverado. The two vehicles then hit two other cars - a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee and a 2016 Honda Civic - both of which were traveling in the same direction as the Silverado.
As per reports, the driver of the Chevrolet HHR sustained life-threatening injuries while her passenger, identified as juvenile female, suffered serious injuries. Both were taken to hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, drivers of the Silverado and Civic also sustained injuries but they were described as non-life-threatening by authorities. They too were transported to hospital for medical attention.
Following this tragic event, that stretch of Highway 70 remained closed for several hours while officers conducted their investigation into what caused this terrible accident.
