Woman taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries
A serious crash involving a pedestrian on southbound I-25 near Woodmen is currently under investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department. The incident occurred around 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.
According to authorities, a woman was struck by a vehicle and subsequently transported to the hospital with severe and life-threatening injuries. It has been revealed that prior to the accident, an argument had ensued between the driver of the car and its passenger. Both individuals decided to pull over onto I-25 before exiting the vehicle. Tragically, as she stepped into traffic, another vehicle collided with her.
Law enforcement officials are considering the possibility that this incident may have been a suicide attempt due to their findings at the scene. As investigations continue, it has been confirmed that neither alcohol nor speed played a role in this tragic event.
In order for investigators to gather evidence and clear debris from the area, southbound lanes of I-25 were temporarily closed from North Academy to Woodmen for several hours following the crash. However, these lanes have since reopened as of approximately 5 a.m., allowing traffic flow to resume normally.
