The Danville Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a serious crash that occurred early Monday morning involving a concrete truck. According to investigators, the accident took place at around 6 a.m. at U.S. 36 and CR 300 E.
As a result of the incident, the eastbound lanes of U.S. 36 have been completely closed off to traffic. The police are urging drivers to avoid the area and seek an alternate route if possible.
For those who need to travel east, they can use East Main Street from CR 200 East to CR 400 East as an alternative route.
Due to the weight of the truck involved in the crash, crews will require an extended period of time for cleanup operations. As such, authorities expect that this closure will last several hours.
Further details regarding this incident have yet to be released by officials involved in its investigation.
