Severe Rollover Wreck Investigated in North Bay Village

The North Bay Village Police have concluded their investigation into a severe rollover wreck that occurred overnight at the Pelican Harbor Marina. The marina's boat ramp, which was temporarily closed for the on-scene investigation, has now been reopened to the public.
The accident took place just before 4 a.m. along the Kennedy Causeway and Northeast 79th Street in North Bay Village. A car flipped upside down and caught fire, prompting fire rescue teams to respond swiftly and extinguish the flames.
Surveillance cameras captured footage of police officers rescuing a man from the water shortly after the crash. Both occupants of the vehicle had fled on foot following the incident; however, only one person sustained injuries - a male who reportedly emerged unscathed.
Law enforcement officials have taken both individuals into custody. Following evidence collection by crime scene technicians, a tow truck removed the car from the site.
According to police reports, this crash occurred as a result of an attempted traffic stop in North Bay Village that led to a high-speed chase. However, specific details regarding why law enforcement initiated this pursuit have not yet been disclosed.
