Six Injured in Crash on Indiana Toll Road

All six people involved were flown by emergency helicopter to Fort Wayne area hospitals. Traffic was flowing again around 7:45pm Monday evening.
Indiana State Police are investigating a crash that occurred on the Indiana Toll Road between Angola and LaGrange on Monday afternoon, which sent six people to the hospital. The accident happened around 4:45 p.m. and closed Interstate 80/90 for several hours.
According to police reports, when they arrived at the scene of the accident, they found a Lexus car with heavy front-end damage blocking the eastbound lanes. Another car was engulfed in flames down in a ditch with four people inside. Good Samaritans stopped and assisted those who were still inside the car.
Police say two of the people injured were bleeding severely. All six people involved were flown by emergency helicopter to Fort Wayne area hospitals. Police believe that driver of Lexus fell asleep while driving, drifted off-road into center grass median and collided with another vehicle.
Both eastbound and westbound lanes had to be shut down during investigation.Landing areas had to be established on roadway for three responding helicopters.There was also lengthy cleanup process on both sides.Traffic resumed again around 7:45 pm Monday evening.The investigation is ongoing.
