A six-vehicle crash on I-55 in Plainfield, Illinois has caused major traffic disruptions in the southwest suburbs this Friday morning. The incident took place near Route 126, involving four vehicles in the northbound lanes and two vehicles in the southbound lanes.
According to reports, two of the vehicles involved were semi-trucks. One of these trucks is said to be leaking fuel, leading authorities to initiate a hazmat response as a precautionary measure.
Illinois State Police are currently investigating the cause of the crash. As cleanup efforts continue at the scene, all southbound lanes have been closed off to ensure safety for both motorists and emergency crews.
