Jeffrey Edsall among those injured in North Patchogue crash

Edsall charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
Two people were seriously injured in a chain-reaction crash caused by a stolen SUV in North Patchogue, New York on Thursday night. According to Suffolk police, Jeffrey Edsall was driving the stolen 2001 Ford Explorer northbound on North Ocean Avenue when he crashed into the back of a northbound 2013 Chevy Suburban driven by a 19-year-old from Central Islip who was turning left into the Ru land Funeral Home. The impact caused the Explorer to spin into the southbound lane where it collided with a southbound 2015 Nissan Rogue driven by a 46-year-old from East Patchogue. The Explorer overturned and Edsall was thrown from the vehicle before being taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Rogue then collided with a southbound 2021 Volkswagen Atlas driven by a 48-year-old from Mt. Sinai, while four rear seat passengers of the Suburban - three adults and one five-year-old child - were also taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries. A front passenger of the Rogue and its rear passenger - identified as an Ecuadorian woman aged seventy-two years old - were also treated at local hospitals for minor injuries.
Edsall has been charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property after it emerged that Ford Explorer had been reported stolen earlier in the day from Randy’s Auto Repair on Medford Avenue in North Patchogue. All vehicles involved have since been impounded while detectives are asking anyone with information about this incident to call them at (631)-854-8552.
