Crash remains under investigation
The Reedsville School District in Wisconsin is providing grief counseling services to students at the high school following a tragic car accident that claimed the life of one of their own. Keegan Grimm, a 17-year-old student, died on Sunday morning in a head-on collision.
The incident occurred at approximately 5:23 a.m. when authorities responded to a crash on U.S. Highway 10 at County Highway G in the Town of Cato. A 21-year-old woman from Menasha was driving westbound on Highway 10 in a Chevrolet Silverado, while Keegan was traveling eastbound in a Ford Escape. The preliminary investigation suggests that the Menasha woman's pickup truck crossed over into the opposite lane and collided with Keegan's SUV.
Tragically, both drivers succumbed to their injuries. The Menasha woman passed away before she could be transported to a hospital, while Keegan was airlifted by ThedaStar helicopter to ThedaCare Medical Center in Neenah but later pronounced dead at the medical center. There were no other passengers involved.
Authorities are currently investigating the crash and have not released any further information or disclosed the identity of the deceased driver from Menasha. The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting an accident reconstruction as part of their inquiry.
Keegan Grimm was an exceptional student who actively participated in volleyball, basketball, and softball within her school community. She also had aspirations for her future career and served as an apprentice during her studies.
To support students during this difficult time, neighboring school districts' counselors have joined Reedsville's crisis team.
As a result of this devastating incident, Reedsville High School has postponed all homecoming activities, including the dance scheduled for Saturday. Additionally, extracurricular competitions on Monday and Tuesday were canceled as a mark of respect.
The community is rallying together during this time of grief, offering support and comfort to Keegan Grimm's family and friends while mourning the loss of a talented student who had so much potential ahead.
