Teenager killed in crash on State Road 64 near Eckerty

The Indiana State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Monday afternoon in Crawford County. The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. on State Road 64 near Eckerty.
According to the police report, an 86-year-old man named Gerald Jarvis was driving his truck in the westbound lane of SR 64 when he crossed the center line and sideswiped a car being driven by a teenager for unknown reasons. The impact caused the car to run off the road and into a ditch while Jarvis' truck flipped over onto its top.
Tragically, one of the passengers in the car, identified as 18-year-old Riley Mullis, was pronounced dead at the scene. Meanwhile, Jarvis was airlifted to a hospital in Kentucky for treatment of his injuries sustained during this incident.
The teenage driver and another passenger identified as Connor Mullis were taken to Jasper Memorial Hospital for medical attention following this collision.
Indiana State Police officials have stated that they do not believe alcohol or drugs played any role in causing this tragic accident. However, investigations are still ongoing at present regarding what led up to this deadly crash on Monday evening.
