Tesla Crashes into Fire Truck on Highway 680 in Fremont

A Tesla Model Y crashed into a stationary fire truck that had responded to a multiple-vehicle crash on Interstate Highway 680 in Fremont, California. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Fremont Fire Department, one of its fire engines was responding to an earlier collision when it was hit by the Tesla. The accident happened at around 1 p.m. local time near Auto Mall Parkway.
The driver of the Tesla had to be hospitalized following the crash, while no firefighters were injured. Aisha Knowles, spokesperson for the fire department said that "the fire engine was disabled and had to be towed off."
Emergency crews reopened all lanes of traffic as of 3 p.m., but there were no details available about the previous collision that prompted firefighters' response.
It is unknown whether or not the Tesla was in self-driving mode at the time of impact. Authorities have yet to release further information regarding this matter.
