Tesla Engulfed in Flames After Single-Vehicle Collision in Santa Clara

According to the City of Santa Clara, a single-vehicle collision caused a Tesla to be fully engulfed in flames on Wednesday afternoon. The incident occurred in the northbound lanes of San Tomas Expressway between Forbes Avenue and Homestead Road, causing delays in Santa Clara. Local police and fire departments were immediately dispatched to the scene.
As of 3:45 p.m., San Tomas Expressway was closed in both directions near the crash site. By 4:30 p.m., southbound lanes had reopened while northbound lanes remained closed for several hours before reopening at around 8:25 p.m.
Photos from the scene show that the white Tesla was completely destroyed after being engulfed by flames.
Witnesses suggest that speed may have been a factor as they observed the driver losing control of the vehicle before swerving left in the intersection then swerving back to avoid going off the road, but ended up hitting a curb which led to crashing into an object.
The city stated that there is at least one major injury resulting from this collision; however, no further details were provided about it yet.
