Three-car Crash in Memphis Sends One to Hospital

One person in critical condition, one person in non-critical condition

Memphis Police reported a three-car crash that caused the shutdown of southbound traffic on Interstate 240 at the Lamar Avenue exit this morning around 5:30. The incident resulted in one person being sent to Regional One Hospital in critical condition, while another was taken to Methodist University Hospital with non-critical injuries.

"Memphis Fire sent three units to the scene," said MPD. "Fire personnel pulled one person from the wreckage."

As a result of the accident, MPD had to re-route traffic off the interstate and cars near the area were turned around causing significant backups.

Further details about what led up to this crash have not yet been released by authorities.
