Three Injured in Shooting and Car Accident at Memphis IHOP

Three people were involved in a car accident while trying to escape being shot at in the parking lot of IHOP in Hickory Hill, Memphis on Wednesday. According to Memphis Police, the incident occurred after midnight when officers responded to an aggravated assault at Winchester and Riverdale Road.
The victims reported that they were in the parking lot when someone started shooting at them with an assault rifle from a silver Kia. The driver tried to speed off but allegedly ran a red light and got hit by a truck. The suspect(s) continued firing shots even after the accident happened.
Two of the victims managed to jump out of the car and run away on foot while the driver continued northbound on Riverdale before pulling into a parking lot where he was still pursued by gunfire.
The police have confirmed that this is an ongoing investigation, and no arrests have been made yet. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact MPD immediately.
