Three People Killed in Car Crash at Frederick County Quarry
"Three people were killed Sunday morning after a car crashed into a quarry in Frederick County," according to the Frederick County Sheriff's Office. The accident happened around 8:35 am at the Union Bridge Quarry located off Peter Shriner and Clemonsville roads in Union Bridge.
The authorities found two women and one man dead inside the vehicle. "An initial investigation indicates a Dodge Charger was speeding, left the road, and plummeted into the bottom of the dry quarry," said the sheriff's office. One of the women was ejected from the car during impact.
The deceased have been identified as Kortney Angleberger, 28, of Keymar; Robert Grossnickle, 65, of Woodsboro; and Rachel Willis, 23, of Dickerson.
After securing the scene for further investigation by law enforcement officials, crews placed barriers and rocks to stop another car from being able to go up that hill. Todd Wivell with Frederick County Sheriff's Office stated that they haven't had such an incident before on those roads typically patrolled by them.
As per reports received so far no other vehicles or individuals were involved in this tragic event. An ongoing investigation is underway to determine what caused this fatal crash.
