Three people from North Carolina killed in fiery crash on I-94

Indiana State Police reported that a fatal car crash occurred on Saturday morning in LaPorte County, Indiana. Three individuals from North Carolina were killed when their white 2023 Kia became disabled in the inside shoulder emergency lane on eastbound Interstate 94. The vehicle was parked with its hazard lights on at the 36.4 mile marker, just two miles east of the Michigan City exit at U.S. 421.
According to police reports, the driver of the Kia had called for roadside assistance when a gray 2017 Dodge Journey driven by a 41-year-old man from Iowa left the eastbound lanes and collided with their vehicle at high speed. The impact caused the Kia to be pushed into the center lane where it burst into flames.
The identities of those who lost their lives have not yet been released by authorities as they work to notify next-of-kin. Investigations are ongoing as officials try to determine what led up to this tragic accident.
This serves as another reminder for drivers to exercise caution while driving and adhere strictly to traffic laws especially during emergencies or times of distress while driving on highways or busy roads.
