Three people killed in Highway 1 crash near Lompoc

Three people have died in a car crash on Highway 1 near the Constellation Road Northbound off-ramp close to Lompoc. The incident occurred just before 6 a.m. on Tuesday and involved two cars, according to SBC Fire officials. Three individuals traveling in one of the vehicles were killed while two others in the second vehicle sustained minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has released more details about the accident, stating that "the driver of a 2008 Kia was heading southbound on the highway south of Constellation Road when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed into the northbound lanes of traffic and collided with a 2017 Chevy." The three passengers in the Kia lost their lives; however, their identities are yet to be disclosed by CHP.
The driver of Chevy is identified as a 52-year-old man from Lompoc while his passenger is reported as being a 19-year-old male also from Lompoc. Both men suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.
According to officers investigating at this time drugs or alcohol are not suspected factors contributing towards this tragic event. It appears everyone involved was wearing seatbelts during impact.
Santa Barbara County Fire officials stated that both lanes of Northbound Highway 1 just south of Constellation Road had been blocked due to this fatal crash but reopened around ten o'clock yesterday morning according to Caltrans.
