According to Trooper Rick Johnson, the wrong-way driver was a 30-year-old man from Seattle who was traveling west in the eastbound lanes. He collided head-on with the victims' car, resulting in the deaths of its driver, a 22-year-old man from Bellevue, and his passenger, a 23-year-old individual from California.
The collision caused all eastbound lanes to be blocked. However, by 5:30 a.m., all lanes had been reopened for traffic.
