Officials Confirm Three Summer Camp Workers Killed in Tragic Car Accident

Authorities have confirmed that three individuals who tragically lost their lives in a car crash in Paris, Maine were employees at a summer camp located in Oxford County. The victims have been identified as Diana Paola Berriel Lopez, 22, Dafne Isabel Sanchez Cruz, 21, and Julian Ernesto Marin Munzon, 22.

The incident occurred on Friday evening along Route 26 when the car carrying the victims was heading south. According to investigators, Lopez was driving when she lost control of the vehicle. This caused the car to rotate and cross over into the opposite lane.

Tragically, a Toyota driven by Tammy Hinckley of Bethel collided with their vehicle. Despite Hinckley's attempts to avoid the crash, she was unable to do so. She sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive.

The owner of Kamp Kohut expressed deep sorrow over the loss of their staff members from the kitchen and laundry team. In an official statement released by the camp management they said: "We are heartbroken to share the news that three staff members of our kitchen and laundry team tragically died in a car accident yesterday afternoon on their day off. We are shocked...our priority is the care and well-being of our Kamp Family."

In response to this devastating event, grief counseling services are being provided for those affected within both campers and staff members alike. The American Camp Association and other professionals are also offering guidance during this difficult time.

Paris Police Chief Michael B. Dailey has stated that investigations are ongoing regarding what led Lopez to lose control of her vehicle; however, conclusive findings may take several weeks.

"We understand that this incident has deeply impacted not only families and friends but also our local community," Chief Dailey emphasized in a press release."Our first responders had already been dealing with multiple critical incidents throughout the day."
