Three-Vehicle Crash Backs Up Traffic on I-71 in Mansfield

A three-vehicle crash caused a major traffic jam on Sunday evening at Interstate 71 near the Ohio 97 exit. The accident occurred around 5:49 p.m. and resulted in more than five hours of backed-up traffic. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported; however, the incident proved to be complicated as it happened in the northbound lane.
According to a dispatcher from the Ohio Highway Patrol's Mansfield post, the driver of a Peterbilt truck had pulled off the road and onto the shoulder. Unfortunately, the truck rolled back into the lane where it was hit by another vehicle - a Walmart Freightliner. As a result of this impact, the Peterbilt truck crashed into a guardrail.
The situation became even worse when the driver of the Walmart truck swerved but struck a Kia Sorento. Thankfully, all drivers involved escaped unharmed.
Currently, authorities are investigating what led to this unfortunate event.
