One person hospitalized with life-threatening injuries
Officials with the Amarillo Police Department have reported an accident that occurred on Monday morning, which has impacted traffic in the area of the I-40 interchange westbound at Ross. The incident involved three vehicles and resulted in one person being hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
According to reports, an officer noticed the accident on I-40 westbound in the interchange around 11:28 a.m. While traffic was slowing down due to lane closures caused by traffic cones, a large oxygen truck hit the back of a car causing it to collide with an SUV.
The three vehicles involved were towed away due to damages and officials from the Amarillo Police Traffic Investigation Unit are currently investigating. As of 2:46 p.m., authorities confirmed that all lanes had been reopened for normal traffic flow.
