Tow truck driver killed in Glendale freeway accident

A tow truck driver was tragically killed on Wednesday night while assisting a stranded motorist on the 5 Freeway near Glendale. The California Highway Patrol reported that the man, who has only been identified as a male in his 40s, was helping load the disabled vehicle onto his tow truck when he was hit by a passing Nissan Versa.
The driver of the Nissan, Rachel Fewings, and the stranded motorist remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to have played a role in this accident.
