New Hartford Police Investigate Tractor-Trailer Accident in Chadwicks
Police are investigating a tractor-trailer accident that occurred at the Sauquoit Creek in Chadwicks on Wednesday, May 24. The incident happened around 12:05 pm when a tractor-trailer was driving east on Red Hill Road and lost control at the intersection of Red Hill Road and Oneida Street.
The vehicle then went off the shoulder of Oneida Street, down a driveway, over an embankment before coming to rest in the Sauquoit Creek. The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities with the Willowvale Fire Department were on site alongside New Hartford Police Department while officials from New York State Department of Environmental Conservation assessed any impact to the creek.
As investigations continue, police have urged motorists to avoid Oneida Street at Red Hill Road until further notice as they work towards removing the tractor trailer which could take until nightfall.
