Fatal Tractor-Trailer Crash in Erwin, Tennessee

One fatality, two critically injured
According to a report from the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the driver of a tractor-trailer that crashed into a home in Unicoi County is now in custody. The incident occurred on Sunday at approximately 8 a.m. when the tractor-trailer veered off the highway and smashed through the I-26 interstate barrier near Exit 36.
After breaking through the barrier, the truck proceeded to cross Rex Lewis Road, colliding with another vehicle before ultimately crashing into a residential property. Tragically, one person inside the home lost their life as a result of this devastating crash. Additionally, two others sustained critical injuries.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol has confirmed that they have taken the driver of the tractor-trailer into custody. Fortunately, this individual only suffered minor injuries and received medical treatment before being transported to Unicoi County Jail.
