Barocio was pronounced dead at the scene.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol has identified the victim of a fatal crash that occurred on Monday afternoon in Martin County. David Barocio, a 36-year-old man from Gatesville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident on Highway 11 near Council Road.

According to troopers, Barocio was driving south on the highway with a load of corn when his truck went off the road to the right and struck a highway culvert, causing it to overturn. Barocio was thrown from the truck during the crash.

The accident resulted in the closure of both lanes of Highway 11 for several hours as crews worked to clean up the wreckage and spilled corn.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
