Two Tractor-Trailers Crash on Massachusetts Turnpike in Russell

Left lanes closed for guardrail repair and fuel spill cleanup
A portion of the Massachusetts Turnpike had to be closed down after two tractor-trailers crashed into each other early Friday morning. The incident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. in Russell, at mile marker 33.8.
The left lanes on both sides of the Mass Pike were shut down as a result of the accident, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). The authorities have been working hard since then to clear up the mess and make sure that traffic can flow smoothly again.
"Traffic is getting by however, the left lanes remain closed for guardrail repair and fuel spill cleanup," said MassDOT in a tweet posted at 10:23 a.m.
It's unclear what caused this crash or if anyone was injured during it. Springfield police responded to the scene shortly after receiving reports about it.
