Traffic Backed Up in Bayonne Due to Single-Vehicle Car Crash

Traffic in Bayonne was heavily congested on Wednesday morning due to a single-vehicle car crash on Route 440 northbound. The incident occurred on the Center Street overpass above Route 440, just before the Pulaski Street exit. The car involved in the accident lost both its driver and passenger side doors and collided with a utility pole, causing it to split.
Fortunately, PSE&G (Public Service Electric & Gas) confirmed that no power outages resulted from the collision. However, repairs to the damaged utility pole are expected to continue throughout the day and be completed by evening rush hour.
Although one lane remained open during the incident, traffic was significantly backed up for most of the morning commute for drivers heading towards either the Turnpike or Interstate 78.
As of now, there is no information regarding any injuries sustained in this crash or whether other vehicles were involved. Additionally, details about what caused this accident have not been released yet.
