Two Amish Children Killed in Tragic Pickup Truck Collision in Alexandria

Two children killed, six people injured
In a devastating incident, two young Amish children, aged 1 and 3 years old, lost their lives after a pickup truck collided with the back of the buggy they were riding in. The tragic accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon around 2:18 p.m. on County Route 2 in Alexandria, N.Y.
According to a news release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Charlene Kring, a 26-year-old resident of Lafargeville, was driving a 2022 GMC pickup truck southwest when she crashed into the back of the Amish buggy that was traveling in the same direction.
The impact caused serious injuries to all six individuals inside the buggy. When law enforcement officers arrived at the scene, they found four children and two adults severely injured. Immediate medical attention was given to one-year-old child who had sustained severe injuries.
Despite efforts by emergency medical crews who rushed to the scene, it was determined that sadly, one-year-old did not survive. The three-year-old child succumbed to their injuries later at Samaritan Medical Center in Watertown.
The two adults involved in this tragic accident were transported to River Hospital in Alexandria Bay for treatment while the other two injured children were taken to Samaritan Medical Center before being transferred to Upstate University Hospital for further care.
Fortunately, Kring escaped without any injuries during this horrific crash according to deputies from Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
As authorities continue their investigation into this heart-wrenching accident details are still emerging. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
