Truck ends up on top of car in Garden Plain crash involving 16-year-old driver and elderly man

Truck driver taken to hospital but expected to be okay
A truck and a car collided in Garden Plain, Kansas on Monday morning resulting in the truck landing on top of the car.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said a 16-year-old was traveling north on 259th St. W. when a truck heading westbound on U.S. 54/400 exited off of the highway and failed to yield at the stop sign. The collision caused both vehicles to travel north of the intersection together.
Fortunately, the young driver from Garden Plain did not sustain any physical injuries but was shaken up by the accident. He had been returning from a summer basketball camp when it happened and was wearing his seatbelt at that time.
On the other hand, firefighters had to rescue an elderly man who was driving the truck involved in this crash as he got pinned inside his vehicle after impact. A nurse who happened to be passing by also rendered aid before emergency services arrived at the scene.
The driver of the truck was taken to Via Christi St.Theresa for treatment, and is expected to recover fully despite being in his seventies or eighties and hailing from Bel Aire.
The Sedgwick County Sheriff's office is investigating this incident further while reminding drivers about road safety measures such as stopping at intersections with stop signs even if they are exiting highways or main roads.
