Driver pronounced dead at hospital
A tragic accident occurred on Thursday night on the Stevenson Expressway, resulting in the death of a truck driver, according to Illinois State Police. The incident took place around 11:22 p.m. in the northbound lanes near Central Avenue.
Authorities reported that a box truck suddenly changed lanes to exit at Central Avenue but lost control and collided with a guardrail. The impact was severe enough to cause fatal injuries to the driver. Emergency services rushed him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
In response to the crash, law enforcement closed down the Central Avenue exit ramp until approximately 1:06 a.m., while they conducted their investigation into the incident. At this time, no further details have been released regarding potential causes or contributing factors leading up to the collision.
