Truck driver fatally injured

In a devastating incident early Tuesday morning, a collision between a commercial vehicle and a train resulted in the death of a 54-year-old truck driver. The accident occurred slightly before 7 a.m. on September 19th, leaving Yancey C. Stephens fatally injured.

According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), the victim was driving his 2016 Mack tractor-trailer when it became stuck at the railroad crossing on Lee County Road near Alabama State Route 14. Tragically, the CSX Train struck the immobilized vehicle.

Authorities are currently investigating to determine what circumstances led up to this tragic crash. Meanwhile, officials from ALEA have announced that the road will remain closed for an extended period as they work to remove the tractor-trailer from the train tracks.
