Truck driver killed, driver who crashed taken to hospital
A truck driver was found dead on Thursday morning after being hit by a car while loading equipment onto an 18-wheeler on the North Freeway in Harris County, Texas. According to Harris County deputies, the crash occurred at around 9:14 a.m.
The driver was found dead under the car, with his head severed nearby the crash. The driver of the car was taken to a hospital, and authorities have not yet provided an update on his condition. However, they do not believe his injuries are severe.
Deputies are investigating whether intoxication or distracted driving played a role in the crash and will be reviewing surveillance video. The northbound feeder of the North Freeway between FM 1960 and Richey is shut down for investigation, and authorities advise people to avoid the area.
The identity of the truck driver has not been released, pending notification of his family. The investigation is ongoing.
