Closure of state Route 619 in both directions for at least three hours
A truck driver traveling east on state Route 619 near Hartville experienced a medical incident on Thursday afternoon, resulting in a crash involving his semi-truck. The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that the vehicle collided with both a guardrail and a tree.
The accident occurred around 12:43 p.m., just east of Duquette Avenue NE, which marks the boundary between Lake and Marlboro townships. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
According to Sgt. Johnnie Maier of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the truck driver did not sustain any injuries from the crash itself. However, he was experiencing low blood sugar at the time of the incident. As a precautionary measure, an ambulance from Marlboro Township Fire Department transported him to Aultman Alliance Community Hospital for treatment.
Due to this unfortunate event, a section of state Route 619 had to be closed off for approximately three hours in both eastbound and westbound directions. The closure prompted Ohio Department of Transportation workers to establish an alternative route around the crash scene.
As of approximately 3:45 p.m., tow truck operators faced difficulties while attempting to remove the overturned 2006 Volvo semi-truck from its current position so that it could be towed away. Once this task is completed successfully by highway workers, Route 619 will be reopened for traffic use again. Unfortunately, there is currently no estimate available regarding when exactly this will occur.
