Truck Hauling Coal Crashes on Interstate 99 in Altoona

Early Wednesday morning, emergency crews were called to the scene of a coal truck crash along Interstate 99 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred just before Exit 32 to Frankstown Road.

According to a trooper at the scene, the driver of the tri-axel dump truck swerved in an attempt to avoid traffic and ended up rolling over near the exit sign. Fortunately, no other vehicles were involved in the accident.

With the assistance of an excavator, crews worked diligently to flip the overturned truck back onto its wheels. They then began cleaning up the spilled coal that had scattered across the area.

The driver of the dump truck sustained minor injuries and was promptly transported to UPMC Altoona for medical attention. Thankfully, their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Authorities have not provided any further details regarding what may have caused this unfortunate incident. It is crucial for drivers on Interstate 99 and surrounding areas to exercise caution while traveling through construction zones or heavy traffic situations.
