The Onondaga Lake Parkway bridge in Salina, New York, was hit by a truck on Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation. The incident was initially denied by the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, but a spokesperson for the state DOT confirmed that a contractor vehicle accidentally struck the bridge. The contractor was on its way to set up a work zone for DOT crews to replace some paneling on the bridge when the accident occurred. The truck was reportedly setting up cones in the work zone when it hit the bridge at 4 mph to 6 mph. The state officials said they will follow up with the contractor to ensure that such incidents do not happen again.
